I decided to take break from the chassis, (I've found more crap to fill than I care to at this point!) and have moved over to the quarter windows. I noticed the SMS set has the window frames but they don't fit properly. I decided to cut out the molding and fashion a lip behind them. Then using thin acetate sheet, or evergreen will cut the shape out and reinstall the moulding after painting. Plan on doing this to the rear window also. The windshield will remain as is other than to repalce the windshield with clear evergreen. Paul

The window frames on the SMS set, do they suppose to go over the window frame on the body shell ( the moulding you are suppose to painted matt black )? Or they are to put behind the quarter windows ? Kind of don't know what to do with it since the SMS instruction didn't tell me how to put it on.

I'm was assuming they were the mouldings. Therefore they would go on the outside. However when I tried the side window, it didn't properly fit the opening. And the back one is too small. I'm beginning to think they are for the inside after the windows are installed. Paul

Hi Paul, I haven't test fit the window frames yet but I think they are for the inside to cover the edge between the clear parts and the body shell just to make it look more real. You mention you will use clear evergreen to replace the windshield but how do you make it curve ?

Evergreen when thin enough will conform very easily. The windows in the real car were probably plexi-glass anyway (other than the windshield?) making it more realistic.

Hey Paul, will you be making the doors windows sliding one in their open position with clear evergreen ?

Paul - I have been looking at doing the side windows as well, but the curves and the mounting is a bit daunting. The basic side windows are some real wierd engineering. The glass is attached to the door and then the frames are glued to that. You would have to make an entire frame, probably from brass to get the strength you need and then bend them to fit the curve of the body. Maybe for model # 3. Pete J.
