Well, I just finished putting on the stripes and they were not a lot of fun. Huge challenge, so I thought I would throw up some hard learned lessons. First is the order of application. It is important to get them on in the right order or you will pay a huge price in time and effort. The first stripe to go on is the D stripe. It is critical to get the end piece aligned with the edge of the door. This sets the placement of all the other stripes. Next is the F stripe. Line it up with the NACA duct and the blue and black part of the D stripe. Now for a suprise. My set of SMS decals have an error! There is a blue stripe missing at the top of the decal, so align the bottom stripe correctly with the D piece. Later you can cut up the F stripe from the original decals and lay it over the top of the SMS parts. It is slightly darker but I doubt anyone will notice. After all this is done, then add the G stripe. Where F&G meet D the stripes are not quite the right width, so align the blue parts and you can add a little black paint to match them up.
I used a lot of Micro Sol(red) and they lay down quite nicely, but it took quite a while.
This was just too much fun for an afternood project. Enjoy!
