I have been working on the hood pins for the last couple of days and discovered that the pins are not drilled out to hold a snap ring. After a little experimentation I came up with a jig to hold the pins, while I drill them out. The jig is made of two strips of Evergreen plastic glued to a piece of brass flat stock with super glue. I glued the first strip down, then set two pin, one at each end, between the first and second strip to get the correct distance between the strips. I then glued the second strip in place. I drilled two holes in the square head. FYI the drill is a #80 and 28 guage hobby wire for the snap ring.

I found on my model that the hood does not line up with the hood pin latch on the hood when you position the template in the called for place (see picture) I found that when you move the template inwards a little, the holes will line up through the hood pin on the hood and the plate (B9 & B27). The lower or front hood pin gets drilled though the plastic in the body. I sanded off the stock hood pin that was engraved on the plastic hood first, positioned the hood in place with tape, and then drilled from the bottom, through the template, through the hood. Hope this helps. The days are counting down. I have some pictures on my Fotki site public.fotki.com/modelcarsmag/porsche_935_112/ that may help. They are from Rory Ivers of Ivers Photo & Imaging. Let me know if any questions. modelcarsmag@yahoo.com

Gregg is absolutely right! I just rechecked my hood and if I used the PE parts(B9,B27) that glue under the windshield frame, to drill the hole, then you wind up with the reinforceing plate too far off to the side. To get everything to line up, I wound up taping the reinforcing plates to the hood and used that as an alignment guide to drill the hole for the pin. I removed the reinforcing plates and taped the body, hood and chassis togeather in the correct position. I then put the pins through the top of the hood and used them to align the photoetched pieces as I glued them in under the windshield frame. It seems a little backwards but it works.

I also found that the angle of the lower pins were off just a bit....a slight bend upward(towards the rear of the car) fixed this..... Also, the upper fuel filler was not ligned up right....dont know if this was an error by me, but I assembled according to directions. Fix->remove the big pin on the bottom of Step #29, Sub #2 part M17. The result, M17 covers the rivets to the 4 oclock position....you dont notice(at least I dont) that is is moved over, and when the hood is on, its almost centered in the upper hole.... AND...the vent/filler necks in Step #29 Sub #1 parts M1/M2....if the holes in Sub 2 arent drilled thru the fuel tank, they will interfere with hood closure...so make sure that the holes are drilled all the way, or far enough into the tank to allow sufficient clearance....just a FYI so you dant have to remove them and fix like I did Chad
