I built the front shocks and mocked up the front suspension. The shocks appear to be too long because the car will sit way too high. The front spring will not go down into part M14 at all. The only way I see to lower the ride height would be to shorten part M14. Has anyone else encountered this problem?

This is a old post, but I just ran into the same thing. I had to shorten the front shocks. I caculate that the shocks are .15 cm too long when compared to the original parts.
I thought it still looked a little tall, so I used a piece of brass tubing and cut it .2 cm long. Now as luck would have it, 1/8 inch brass tubing fits over part M13 just perfectly and lowers the front down to were it should be.
The car still looks like it is riding a little high, but that is just because we are use to seeing the new cars that are right down on the pavement. If you look at the old photos, these cars had a lot more ground clearance then the new ones.

How much did you cut off M13? Any pictures of the process you can post?

Actually - I didn't have to cut any of part M13 off. By sliding a 2mm piece of 1/8 inch brass tubing over the shaft of M13 it effectively shorted the stroke of shock and brought it down to the length I needed. That is the beauty of this fix. I wasn't messing with cutting a threaded part. I would post pictures but I lost Tim's e-mail in a recient computer crash. Pete J.
