Does someone know what the function of the wheel covers on the real car is? I'm seeing photos with and without them and would really rather not use them. I'm leaning toward the Dick Barbour HT 1978 car and it has them painted yellow which looks pretty cool, but covers up the beautiful wheels!!!

Aerodinamics - For long distance high speed races(like 24 hours of Le Mans) the covers reduced the turbulance in the wheel well area enough to make a differance. On shorter tighter courses they really didn't help. I agree. Those beautifull BBS's should not be covered. Pete

They also offer enhanced airflow for brake cooling. If you look at the edge of the disks there are vanes not all than unlike those of the engine cooling fan.
