The water pump parts in the Tamiya kit are listed as "unused". I did not notice this until I was reviewing the plumbing diagram from SMS. The Tamiya parts C38, C46 and C47 represent the water pump and should be used. I don't know why they are omitted from the instructions.
The CD shows just a glimpse of the water pump. Does anyone have any reference photos or any info on exactly where the pump is mounted and exactly how it is put together? Thanks for any info!

Check the box top Ken. Looks like the water pump is opposite the injection pump. Can't see much on the detail of the mounting bracket, but the routing of the water lines is clearly visible. I think we're going to have to take a little artistic license on this one. Of course I've already done that on the sway bar adjustment lever. I'll post pics soon on that one.. :-)
Thanks for the heads up on the water pump!

Found another waterpump resource. ;D Look on the SMS instructions on the cover there is a line drawing of the engine showing the waterpump from two angles. Between that and the box art we may have enough to scratch build the mounting and details.

Here is a photo of the water pump I found while digging on the internet.

Here's my take on the water pump bracket. It is fabricated out of brass that I will either tin or paint SG Black. It is mounted using the cam cover holes. It lines up pretty nicely with the mounting bosses on the water pump body. Next I will need to machine some pulleys.

Now that I have installed the water pump and the line that goes directly to the intercoolers, there is a clearance problem. This lies in the distance between the back of the intercoolers and the chassis cross member that provides the upper mount for the rear shocks. It is very difficult to bend tubing a sufficiently small radius to match the actual water line in this area. I will probably just extend the line to the right point and just glue it in place without the 90 degree bend and flexible connection. Once the engine is installed, this should be pretty well hidden anyway.
I will try to take some photos in this area tonight.

It appears to me from all reference photos that I have and the sms drawings that the water pump on the Tamiya kit is located on the left side(looking rear of body to front) approximately 3quarters or more towards the back of the car.SMS drawing is a split view.Art work on the Tamiya box also supports this. I just wonder where the pump drive originates? 934 and perhaps the air to air version may well have been the same, but not as I saw it yrs ago. Steven

The 934 has the water pump on the "passenger" side, driven off the camshaft. The 935 has the mechanical injection pump in this location, and the water pump is moved to the "driver" side. Still driven off the camshaft (see the pic in the Admin's post above), and it's the same pump. But unlike the 934 which uses a cast mounting bracket, the 935 pump is mounted with lightweight sheetmetal brackets.
The Admin should be posting some pics I sent him shortly.
